Transformer Decommissioning — Plan the Equipment Exit
Transformer decommissioning should begin with electrical isolation, equipment identification, oil-status review, access planning, and a decision about reuse versus recycling. Facility owners should coordinate qualified electrical, environmental, rigging, and transportation resources appropriate to the project.
Information to Collect
Document the manufacturer, serial number, kVA, voltage, phase, estimated dimensions and weight, service status, fluid type, laboratory records, location, and loading constraints. Photograph the nameplate, bushings, cabinet, gauges, leaks, physical damage, and the travel path from the equipment to the loading area.
Evaluate the complete transformer before draining it or committing it to scrap. Review transformer removal planning, the oil disposal guide, or call (951) 903-9804 with the equipment details.
